covered
with constant snow can sparkle mysterious flame. Apart from
that, its special shape is different from other surrounding
mountains, which makes people having the feelings of religionary
godliness and astonishment.
¡¡¡¡The meaning of ¡®Kailash¡¯ is ¡®mountain of jinn¡¯ in Tibetan,
in Sanskrit it¡¯s ¡®heaven of Siva¡¯ (Siva is the top jinn of Hinduism),
and furthermore Bon is originated from here. From the record
of Indian and Tibetan historical articles, people¡¯s adoration
to Kailash can be traced to about 1,000 B.C.
¡¡¡¡The sutra of Bon describes: a river down from Kailash follows
into Mangyong lake that is impossible to be conquered. There
are four rivers originated from it, and follows toward east,
south, west and north. The river following toward east is Dangquezangbu
Horse Spring river (its lower reach is Bulamaptela river), there
are abundant beryl, people drinking the water in it can grow
strong like young foal; the river following toward south is
Majiazangbu Peacock river (its lower reach is Ganges river),
there are abundant silver sand, people drinking the water in
it can grow lovely like peacock; the river following toward
west is Langqinzangbu Elephant Spring river (its lower reach
is Sutleigy river), there are abundant gold mine, people drinking
the water in it can grow strongly like elephant; the river following
toward north is Sengezangbu Lion Spring river (its lower reach
is Indian river), there are abundant diamond mine, people drinking
the water in it can grow bravely like male lion. Each year there
are constant pilgrimage troop who come from India, Bhutan, Nepal
and Tibetan area of China, which makes its sanctity last thousands
of years.
¡¡¡¡It¡¯s said that the most famous Himi mountain of Buddhism is
just Kailash. According to Buddhism Dictionary: Himi is the
name of a mountain, the center of the world. At the Xiangxiong
Bon period of Pre-Buddhism era, Kailash is called ¡®Nine Layer
Mountain¡¯, the legend says that 360 jinn of Bon live there.
The founder of Bon-Dunbaxinrao gets down from the heaven, the
mountain is the jump area. Shinaism springing up at 5 to 6 century
B.C. called Kailash ¡®Ashitapoda¡¯, meaning the highest mountain,
and is the place where the founder of Shinaism-Ruisihabanasha
got unfixed.
¡¡¡¡The Indian call the mountain ¡®Kailash¡¯, also think here is
the center of the world. Siva-one of the three main jinn, and
having biggest supernatural power and grandest status just lives
here. The upper reach of Indian river and Ganges river are all
originated here, so it¡¯s not strange to see many Indian pilgrims
at the foot of Kailash.
¡¡¡¡Several centuries later, Kailash is always the sanctum existing
in the heart of pilgrims and explorers, but until now there
is nobody climbing up the sacred mountain, or maybe said there
is nobody daring to offend the center of the world. It¡¯s only
these years that the traveler reached this sanctum, and the
travelers are not so many, which perhaps is a thing worthy felicitating.
